(ವ್ಯಾಕರಣ, ಅಲಂಕಾರಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ) ಪದವ್ಯತ್ಯಯ; ಒಂದು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ವಾಕ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾ ತಾರ್ಕಿಕ ವಾಕ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಅಂಶಗಳ ಯಾ ಪದಗಳ ಸಹಜ ಸಂಬಂಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಬದಲಾವಣೆ, ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ವಿಶೇಷಣ ಪದವನ್ನು ಸಂಬಂಧಪಟ್ಟ ನಾಮಪದದಿಂದ ಬೇರೊಂದು ನಾಮಪದಕ್ಕೆ ವರ್ಗಾಯಿಸುವುದು: apply water to the wound ಎನ್ನುವ ಬದಲು apply the wound to water ಎನ್ನುವುದುjoy is lost to you ಎನ್ನುವ ಬದಲು you are lost to joy ಎನ್ನುವುದುhe is dead to shame ಎನ್ನು ವ ಬದಲು shame is dead to him ಎನ್ನುವುದುthe weary ploughman plods his way homeward ಗೆ ಬದಲು the ploughman homeward plods his weary way ಎನ್ನುವುದು.
