About the Department:
The Professional Social Work Course leading to Master’s degree, affiliated to the University of Mysore, was started in 2014-15 at Sir M Vishvesvaraya PG Centre Tubinakere, Mandya with 30 Social Work trainees.

There are 6 part time faculty members who have been serving the department for last six years.
The 176 Social Work Trainees have been passed out from this institution as of 2019-20, 8 of 170 have joined government organization, the remaining are working for Non-governmental organizations.

Department events:
The faculty members are actively involved in guiding the students in the activities such as orientation visits, concurrent field work, social work camp, summer placement and block placement.
Apart from regular activities the department has organized / conducted workshops, seminars, special lectures at university and department level.
The department has strived to make the students proficient in soft skills along with the core curriculum so that, the students have good placement opportunities.
Campus interviews are being organized for the students in collaboration with Department of studies in Social work University of Mysore.
Various workshops and skills training programmes are conducted every year to cater to the job demands of the market.
Regular and formal staff-students interaction takes place in the form of individual conferences and group conferences. Here the expert faculty guide and supervise the students in field work and also mentor the students in both personal and professional growth.

Research Activities:
The faculty members are actively involved in guiding the students to take up research activities as part of their curriculum in the name of Major project.
