Muslim Women Empowerment: A Study in Karnataka

Dr.Mustiary Begum dwells in her report on the dimensions of women empowerment in general and that of Muslim women in particular. The basic premises of this study are the issues of empowerment of Muslim women and its interconnection with the issues like education, income, poverty and such other socio-economic indicators.  The objective of the study was to identify the factors that facilitate empowerment of Muslim women, to study the perception of the women about their status and their role in society, to study the education level of Muslim women, to analyze the socio-economic status of the samples selected and to suggest a comprehensive plan for the development and empowerment of Muslim women.

 The report is presented in four chapters. Chapter 1 provides theoretical the theoretical framework of the study and dwells on certain primary issues of empowering women in the context of Islam. Chapter 2 provides respondents’ profile. The third chapter is devoted to analysis and interpretation of the data collected. Chapter four presents a plan for the development and empowerment of Muslim women in the background of the study conducted. The report is replete with tables and charts on various issues of Muslim women and parameters of empowerment that provides a useful statistics for a clear and easy understanding.
